some of the best stuff ever invented

paul mitchell super skinny serum
i am very low-maintanence. seriously. this is the only hair product i use (except shampoo and conditioner, of course. gross.). I use it on my wet hair as a detangler and styling agent, then again after it drys as a smoothing balm. i buy the big bottle and it's worth every penny.

nars lip gloss in stolen kisses (sparkling caramel pink)

i went into sephora and said i want a color to wear out at night and feel current instead of my normal night-time red or berry lipstick. they picked this. instead, i wear it all day. it was $24, but is that too much for the perfect nude? doesn't last that long at all, but i love the color. i feel like lc when i wear it. (i do love the hills. and having instant access to full episodes. i love the internet.)

wow

i love the looks or orchids, but can't justify that kind of spending for a plant i know won't last a week with me. and fake ones are kind of, blah. until justine smith's specimen (4) turkmenistan:

lovely, isn't it. as much so as the real deal. {via}

totally freakin sexy shoes

when hubby wanted to go see iron man for the second time, i was all like: yay - this time look at her shoes! don't know how he missed this deliciousness the first time, but now, the second time, i need them even more.

apparently, it is a phenomenom because when i searched "pepper potts shoes" a whole bunch of links came up with women asking where they came from. my favorite response probably sums up what the hubby was thinking: r u kidding me? you went to see what was possibly the coolest movie of all time and all you are thinking is 'what shoes did pepper potts have'? but i digress.

feast on the awesome-ness of pepper potts and her shoes:

they are, according to the internet, christian louboutins. i found these looking for those. these might actually be those, without the metallic, i can't tell exactly:
and for about $400 less, you can get the all-black nine west ones below. i might even like them better than above. i would definitely if they were patent.

photo lamps of all kinds

i love photos applied in really cool ways, these lamps are no exception:

i know this slide projector lamp is ugly, but i love the idea. been searching for a diy way to make it, but so far no luck. also looking for a cheapie slide projector, but they are hard to find!

here's a tutorial for you to make a slide projector lampshade that looks really great, especially if the slides are mounted in black plastic. there are some for sale on etsy (including the picture below), but i think i would like one with my own slides. look at this flickr link, he took it to the next level. awesome.

i also really love this translucent image lampshade from re-surface. i am starting to see them everywhere - even pottery barn!

but i think these slide lights from suckuk are my favorite because they are modern and can be changed up:

better basics

my target towels and dishes are getting ready for an upgrade. my plan is to embrace everyday luxuries - to buy fewer, but more expensive everyday items.

i plan to slowly collect this fiesta dinnerware (1/2 off) in mix and match colors. i like the sturdiness (oven-, dishwasher-, and microwave-safe with 3 year chip warranty) and the bold colors. and since they've been around from 1936, it doesn't look like it'll be discontinued anytime soon. i'm thinking turquoise, orange, plum and red to start.

for the towels, i'm thinking either dark pink or silver:

they have good reviews, and at $11.99 each won't break the bank (how many do u buy? i'm thinking six would be plenty).

flamingos!

another designer item from my recent magazines: just cavalli flamingo mini-dress

these designer things seem like they would be awfully hard to buy if one wanted too, can't really find them on the web even to get the price. guess that's the nature of it: supply vs. demand. if everyone can get it, it's not really special, is it?

anyway, not sure why but i just think it's adorable. i probably wouldn't add the matching tights, but it looks great with kate's knee high boots. i think this dress just fits in well with my goal of adding fun to my wardrobe which is pretty basic (+ dull) at the moment. i've always loved black dresses with white collars - always! - and this just takes it up a notch. so cute!

winter wants

although it is 100 degrees here, i'm craving this leopard beret and these purple gloves. from Ralph Lauren's Fall 2008 Collection. (i sound fashion-y, don't i? fall 2008 collection... got that from the website. took forever to find these on it.)

i couldn't find a good picture, so this is a pic of an ad in vogue:

My plain black coat will look so sophisticated... at a sophisticated price!
long suede gloves: $425
leopard beret: $650

by the way, did anyone know ralph lauren had a dog collection? that is too weird for me...

back by popular demand...
